Who can have free nursery education? Free nursery education is available for all 3 & 4 year olds in the Bradford Metropolitan District Area. All children should have access to a free place from the start of the school term after their 3rd Birthday. Where can my child receive free nursery education? In the Bradford District free nursery places for 3 and 4 year olds are offered by schools or funded providers. If you would like your child to have a place at Bolton Woods Childcare Unit Nursery then please feel free to come and discuss this with the nursery staff or make an appointment with the Nursery Manager. Places will be limited to 12, unlike nursery schools which have much larger classes. We have chosen to do this so that we are able to offer you and your child the very best in nursery care and education. As a community based nursery we are non-profit making and so do not have to have a larger intake of children to provide finance for the nursery. How much free nursery education can my child have? Free nursery education is available for five 2.5hr sessions per week, 38 weeks per year. At Bolton Woods Childcare Unit Nursery this will be on Mon-Fri Afternoons from 1.30-4.00pm, which enables you to collect older children from school first if you need to. In order for you to register your child for a funded place at Bolton Woods Childcare Unit please speak to the Nursery Manager who will give you all the information you need. How can I be sure that my child will receive good quality nursery education? Both schools and funded providers must follow the government’s national Foundation Stage curriculum for 3 and 4 year olds. The quality of their provision is monitored by the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED). They must also follow the Code of Practice for children with Special Educational Needs. More Information about funded places. Money for funded places is paid directly to the provider to enable them to offer free places. The fund is not paid directly to parents/carers. When does my child become eligible for a free funded nursery education place? Your child becomes eligible for a funded place at the start of the term after their 3rd birthday. This means that all 3 year olds will be able to start a free nursery place in September, January or April following their 3rd birthday.
